The Landscaper/Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the appearance, cleanliness and safety of the city’s outdoor areas. This position ensures that lawns, landscaping, walkways and exterior spaces are well-kept and presentable at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Mow, edge and trim lawns regularly

• Plant, prune, trim and maintain trees, shrubs and flower beds

• Remove weeds and apply fertilizers and pesticides as needed

• Water lawns and landscaping - Remove trash, debris and fallen leaves from grounds

• Maintain parking lots, sidewalks and entrances

• Operate and maintain grounds equipment (Zero Turn Mowers, Trimmers, Blowers, etc.)

• Perform seasonal duties such as snow and ice removal

• Assist with minor outdoor repairs (Fences, Signage, Irrigation Systems)

• Ensure grounds meet safety standard and report hazards

• Assist with cleanup during downtown events (Heritage Days, etc.)

• Available to work some overtime

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

• Experience in landscaping and/or groundskeeping preferred

• Ability to operate landscaping equipment safely

• Basic knowledge of lawn care and plant maintenance

• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual labor in an outdoor setting
